Funded by the EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, COMPAS’ Migration Observatory and Global Exchange on Migration and Diversity are working with Migration Yorkshire and local partners to develop a toolkit, which aims to empower local authorities to more effectively plan and measure integration interventions.
HM Government’s Integration Communities Green Paper (2018) and Action Plan (2019) both call for an evidenced-based approach to the integration of refugees and third country nationals. Although the Home Office Indicators of Integration framework 2019 was developed to bring this about, some local authorities across the UK remain uncertain about how to use it. Co-produced with three pilot local authorities from the Yorkshire and the Humber region, the toolkit developed over the lifespan of this project will translate the best available theory on measuring integration at the local level into a format that local authorities can easily adapt and apply to meet their needs, including the implementation of Yorkshire and the Humber’s forthcoming refugee integration strategy.
The toolkit will be shared with local authorities and other stakeholders across the UK in late 2022.
This project is co-funded by the European Union Asylum, migration and Integration Fund. Making management of migration flows more efficient across the European Union.
