Zehra Senem is a DPhil student in Migration Studies. Her research seeks to understand how transnational religious organisations establish and sustain the imagination of belonging to a diaspora. In this regard, she conducts ethnographic research exploring transnational Bosnian Muslim communities in Germany.
Before joining the DPhil in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford, she did an MA in Central and South-East European Studies at the University College London’s (UCL) School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) and a BA in Turcology and Social Anthropology at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin).
Her research interests include diaspora studies, transnationalism, and Muslims and Islam in Europe.
