Biography

Supervisor: Alison Shaw and Paula Sheppard

College Affiliation: Green Templeton College

Joséphine is a DPhil candidate in Migration Studies and Clarendon Scholar investigating the agency of undocumented and irregular female migrants in Ile-de-France with regards to their sexual and reproductive health and rights. Joséphine is particularly interested in examining how migrant women navigate the productive aspect of vulnerability and resist the gendered and racialized underpinnings of the French healthcare system.

In October 2019, she completed an MPhil in Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge and reflected on a “monstruous creature” the suicide bomber. Guided by Puar’s concept of queerness as assemblages, she re-articulated the terrorist’s body through the blurring of corporeal dichotomies.

Research interests include sexual and reproductive health, methodologies of mobility, gender studies, queerness and bodies’ mobilities.
