Overview

Join us at the Pitt Rivers Museum for an unforgettable experience celebrating the diverse sounds of migration! This in-person event will showcase field recordings and artistic compositions from worldwide.

What are the sounds of migration? More than 100 unique recordings of the lived experience of migration worldwide have been collected, recomposed and reimagined into a brand-new collection of compositions. The Migration Sounds project offers a unique way to explore and understand human migration and settlement through field recordings and the artistic responses to those sounds. Come and hear the first large-scale public exploration of the sounds of migration amplified in the historic Pitt Rivers Museum.

This installation is a partnership between Cities and Memory and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), University of Oxford.
