COMPAS is organising a series of panels following the screenings of films in the “Home” strand of OxDox, the Oxford Documentary Festival. The “Home” strand features films that explore the meaning of home in a migration context. The following films are included in the strand:
17 October: Stop Over
In Athens, illegal immigrant Amir has a modest flat which has become a place of transit for migrants who like him have chosen to leave their country. 6.15pm
19 October: Men At Lunch
Seán Ó Cualáin’s film reveals the human story behind one of the most iconic images of the 20th Century – Lunch Atop A Skyscraper. 6.45pm
24 October: The Stuart Hall Project
New film from award-winning documentarian John Akomfrah is a sensitive, emotionally charged portrait of cultural theorist Stuart Hall. 6.15pm
26 October: London: The Modern Babylon
Legendary director Julien Temple’s epic time-travelling voyage to the heart of his hometown. 6pm
31 October: Winter Nomads
Carole and Pascal embark on their winter transhumance with three donkeys, four dogs and eight hundred sheep. 6.30pm
