No Way Out, No Way In

25 June 2012
House of Lords

Time: 15:30 – 17:00, 25 June 2012

The launch of the report ‘No way out, no way in: Irregular migrant children and families in the UK’ will include a presentation of the findings by Dr Nando Sigona and Vanessa Hughes (University of Oxford) and responses from key stakeholders including the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for England, the Children’s Society, and the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), followed by a roundtable discussion.

The report, by Dr Nando Sigona and Vanessa Hughes, casts a new light on a hidden and hard-to-reach population of migrants, and their experiences and everyday lives in Britain. It examines rights, entitlements and issues around access to public services for children and families and the challenges faced by service providers caught in-between a commitment to the best interests of every child and the enforcement of immigration rules.
