The Right to Decide in Democracy between Recentralisation and Independence: Scotland, Catalonia and the Basque Country Igor Calzada

Introduction

2014 is going to be remembered as one of the most ‘experimental’ years in terms of putting direct democracy into practice through the exercise of the right to decide (López, 2011) by small nations (Keating, 2014) with reference to their nation-states (Ohmae, 1995). The article depicts a comparative analysis of three cases: Scotland, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
