Designing Viable and Ethical Labour Immigration Policies

The design of labour immigration policies has become one of the most contentious and divisive issues of public policy making in many countries. Public debates have been hampered by a lack, or distortion of facts about migration and its consequences, thus leaving policymakers in the difficult position of having to design labour immigration policies based on incomplete and highly contested evidence. Increasing the range and quality of information about the consequences of international labour migration must undoubtedly be one of the most important steps toward improving the quality of public debate and the policy choices for governments.
