Policies

COMPAS has both studied the migration policy making process and, through developing the evidence base and through knowledge-exchange activities, contributed to it. A particular interest is the multi-level governance of integration policies in relation to legal and irregular migrants, exploring the tensions between tiers of government with differing priorities and the policies and practices that emerge from that dynamic. As policy intervention is one key factor in migration outcomes, COMPAS interrogates the implications of differing approaches to the management of migration, from temporary labour migration programmes and points-based schemes to fill labour shortages to policy responses to the social welfare needs of irregular migrants.
