Sinara earned her MA and BA in Sociology from Yerevan State University. She has carried out several research projects on gender at Yerevan State University Center for Gender and Leadership Studies (CGLS). At present, Sinara is a PhD student at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Vienna University. Her research focuses on Armenian international labour migration. Taking into account the patriarchal system of Armenia, her dissertation analyses the impact of male seasonal labour migration on social and power relations within the households in rural Armenia.
Sinara received funding towards her PhD study from APPEAR individual scholarship. Her status as a COMPAS Visiting Academic is supported by the Marietta Blau Grant.
