Julia Schweers is a DPhil candidate in Migration Studies and holds a BA in Political Science, a BA in African Studies, and an MA in Social Theory.
Julia’s research interests lie at the intersection of Political Science and Sociology. Her doctoral work focuses on the role of citizenship in context of migration between the Global South and the Global North and investigates return migration to Ghana. Julia is also a member of the MIGNEX research team, where she works on (in-)coherences of EU migration policies.
Prior to her doctoral research, she worked as an editor for the German political journal “Blätter für deutsche und international Politik”. Her journalistic work dealt among others with climate change and youth movements in Africa.
