Julia is a first year DPhil Student in Migration Studies and holds a BA in Political Science, a BA in African Studies and an MA in Social Theory.
Julia’s research interests lie at the intersection of political sociology, social anthropology and political theory. Her work focuses on the role of citizenship in contexts of migration from the global south to the global north and aims at reassessing key theoretical concepts such as status and class from a global perspective.
Prior to her doctoral research, she worked as an editor for the German political journal “Blätter für deutsche und international Politik”. Her journalistic work dealt among others with climate change and youth movements in Africa.
