Isabel Shutes Former Staff

Isabel Shutes is a Lecturer in Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Previously she worked at COMPAS as research working on projects within the welfare cluster, namely leading an international research project on migrant care workers in ageing societies.

She has research interests in: migration and social policy; social divisions and inequalities; social care; and relations between the state, market and third sector in the provision of welfare. Her recent research focuses on the employment of migrant workers in the provision of care for older people. Previous research has focused on welfare-to-work policies and employment service provision for refugees, low-paid workers and lone parents.
