Chaoguo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at University of Science and Technology Beijing. He is a commissioning editor of Sociological Review of China. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Renmin University of China (2011) and Ph.D. in Anthropology from Aichi University of Japan (2017).
His research focuses on Chinese internal migration. He has carried out some research projects on Chinese peasant migrant workers’ social identity and labour disputes resolution. At present, he is studying Chinese postpartum doulas who are usually called yuesao, and attempts to describe yuesao’s labour process and labour relationships, identify the operation of the state’s maternal and infant care chains, and discuss how the state’s domestic service industry policies influence yuesao’s circumstances.
