Adele Galipo holds a PhD in Anthropology and Sociology of Development from the Graduate Institute in Geneva. From January 2016 to June 2017, she was granted a Swiss National Science Foundation Fellowship based at the Department of Social Science at University College London (UCL).
Her research interests include migration, transnationalism, diaspora, return, urban diversity, development, conflict and nationalism. She has field experience in the Horn of Africa, particularly within the Somali region, Italy and the UK.
Adele has recently worked on a UCL seed funding project entitled “Responding to the Mediterranean migration crisis: Hospitality and everyday social interactions in Lampedusa”. She is now focusing on a project which explores how migrants’ transnational practices shape local interactions in Shepherd’s Bush, a neighborhood in west London.
