OECD Literature Review
Social Integration of Migrants in Europe: A Review of the European Literature 2000 - 2006
By Sarah Spencer, Associate Director, Centre on Migration, Policy and Society, University of Oxford and Betsy Cooper, St Johns College, Oxford
The authors were commissioned by the OECD to review European literature on the social integration of migrants in Europe and to summarise the main findings. The review, necessarily illustrative of the broad literature available, is supported by an extensive, separate bibliography. The objectives of the project were to draw out the implications of these findings for European policy making and to identify the limitations of the available knowledge as an evidence base. The review focuses on recent literature (2000-2006) and primarily on selected Western European countries: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. It aims to identify gaps in the literature to inform a forward research agenda.
