Stephanie is working towards a DPhil in Political Theory from the Department of Politics and International Relations. Her research focuses on the ethics and politics of implementing immigration detention in advanced, industrialized countries, specifically the US, the UK, and Canada. Her DPhil thesis employs the lens of immigration detention to analyse issues of moral inequality, liberal citizenship, border control regimes, and state power. Her supervisors are Drs Bridget Anderson and Matthew Gibney.


Together with Evelyne Massa, Stephanie convened the one-day workshop, The Meaning and Practice of Immigration Detention: Perspectives from Legal, Social, and Political Theory, in May 2010. Please find the papers and podcasts here:
