Rebecca Lasky
Rebecca Lasky is working towards a DPhil in Social Anthropology, with a focus on religious transnationalism among the Tamil diaspora in Paris.
Her doctoral research analyses the historical, political, and economic contexts of Tamil migration to France; the restructuring and relativisation of cultural, national, and religious identity stimulated by these migratory frameworks; and the various manifestations and permutations of Hindu ideology and practice as driven by transnational market forces.
Rebecca has an M.A. in French Language, Literature and Civilization from Middlebury College (in affiliation with l’Université de Paris-Sorbonne), and a B.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Vassar College, New York.
