Giovanna Lauro

Giovanna Lauro is a DPhil student in Politics and International Relations, researching the evolution and impact of national rhetoric and policies of integration of immigrants in France and Great Britain. In particular, she is analyzing multicultural and assimilationist policies aimed at the prevention of forced marriage amongst young people of ethnic minority background, both at the national and the local level.

She has graduated from an MA in International Relations and Economics focusing on International Health Policy at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and holds a Degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna.  

Before embarking on her doctorate, Giovanna worked on women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights for the United Nations Foundation in Washington, DC. Having previously worked in France, Ireland, Spain and Armenia, Giovanna is fluent in French and Spanish, has learnt basic Russian in order to survive in Central Asia, and is currently perfecting her Portuguese.
