Christiane Wirth-Forsberg

Christiane is working towards a DPhil in Geography and holds an ESRC centre-linked studentship.

Her thesis focuses on access to employment and housing for migrants who have come to the UK since the enlargement of the European Union in 2004 (A8 migrants). Christiane's is currently conducting research in Sefton in Lancashire, UK, an area not previously known for economic migration.

Before starting her DPhil studies in Oxford in 2006, Christiane worked for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva and the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), a pan-European network of refugee-assisting non-governmental organisations. Christiane received her MA from Bonn University in 2003 with a thesis comparing ethnic residential segregation in the cities of Toronto, Canada and Stockholm, Sweden.
