Carlos Vargas-Silva is an economist with particular expertise in quantitative data analysis. 

He previously worked at the International Migration Institute (IMI), also at Oxford. His research interests include the economic impact of immigration on receiving countries and the link between migration and economic development in sending countries, with a special focus on the role of migrants’ remittances.

Carlos has been a consultant in migration related projects for many international agencies including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations University.
