Karin Heissler is a doctoral student in Development Studies. She is interested in young people and the dynamics around their migration for work in developing countries.

She is researching why young people in Bangladesh migrate to cities for work and the conditions they feel are necessary for them to move.

Karin has an MA in International Development. She speaks French and has conversational Bengali/Bangla.

Before embarking on her doctorate, Karin worked in the area of child protection in India , Pakistan and Bangladesh with UNICEF and, prior to joining the UN, she did research for a human rights organization based in India.
