
Previously, Frank Pieke headed the COMPAS Programme on 'Sending Contexts'. He is University Lecturer of the Modern Politics and Society of China and a Fellow of St Cross College, and has been elected University Assessor for 2005-6.
He has a background in Cultural Anthropology and has written or contributed to various books including: 'Transnational Chinese: Fujianese Migrants in Europe', 'Recent Trends in Chinese Migration to Europe', and 'The Overseas Chinese in Europe'.
Frank has worked on contemporary China, Chinese migration and the overseas Chinese for many years, carrying out major research projects of Chinese migration funded by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and the ESRC.
