
Ellie Vasta was a Senior Researcher at COMPAS until July 2009; primarily connected to the cluster on 'Migrants, civil society and everyday life'. She is a sociologist and is co-author of Australian Immigration: Multiculturalism, Ethnic Diversity, Identity and the State, and co-editor of International Migration and the Social Sciences: confronting national experience in Australia, France and Germany.
Ellie's recent work in Britain and Europe has focused on immigrant work strategies and networks in London with specific emphasis on immigrant participation, identity, community, and on irregularity; on racism; and on the ideological shifts in the European models of immigrant inclusion, focusing on policies and public discourses.
She has been the Willy Brandt Visiting Professor in International Migration and Ethnic Relations at the University of Malmo, Sweden; and a visiting fellow at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia.
